The Mentelle neighborhood is located just east of downtown Lexington, Kentucky — bounded by East Main Street and Walton, National and Richmond avenues — between the Bell Court and Kenwick neighborhoods. Mentelle is a beautiful, diverse, walkable and bikeable residential and commercial neighborhood filled with friendly homeowners and renters. Most of the neighborhood’s houses were developed between 1906 and 1930, although the oldest house dates to the 1790s and the newest is just a few years old.
Within the neighborhood are Ashland Elementary School, recognized as one of the best in Lexington. Mentelle is home to Warehouse Block, an acclaimed urban-infill retail and entertainment district along National Avenue. The neighborhood includes several fine restaurants, two churches and a synagogue, and a variety of businesses and non-profit organizations.
